Moraya Gosavi brought the Lord Moreshwara, of Morgaon one among the Astavinayaka, to Chinchwad. As a result this region has attained transcendental importance. Shri Moraya Gosavi have taken living Samadhi here. His rigorous penance have made this temple gain the importance like that if Astavinayaka. Out of the three and half peethas of Ganesha, this is said to be the half peetha. Earlier this region had lots of tamarind trees therefore the village was called as Chinchwadi. This place is a revered one, similar to Morgaon,in attaining veneration and sanctity. Many devotees have experienced the presence of god and many had their wishes fulfilled.
This Chinchwad is the birth place of great freedom fighters Caphekar brothers. There is a mansion of the Caphekars. Chinchwad is also known as industrial area and now it is growing fast as an IT hub.
